March 26, 3311

Today, we learned some more details about the upcoming Corsair! Here's the quick and dirty:

Core Internals:

  • Size 7 Power Plant

  • Size 7 Thrusters

  • Size 7 Power Distributor

  • Size 6 Sensors

  • Size 5 FSD

  • Size 4 Life Support

  • Size 5 Fuel Tank

Optional Internals:

  • 3x Size 6

  • 3x Size 5

  • 1x Size 4

  • 1x Size 3

  • 1x Size 2

  • 1x Size 1

Hardpoints

  • 3x Large

  • 3x Medium

We do not yet know what the utility mounts look like.

More importantly, we learned a few additional pieces of information about the Corsair:

  • All hardpoints will be mounted to the fuselage for better convergence--no hardpoints on the engine nacelles!

  • The Corsair is designed with a low-drift flight model, likened to the Clipper (that's considered low drift?). FDev has indicated that it will be great for canyon runs.

  • Max cargo capacity is 318t, or 280t with a shield

  • The Corsair has seats for two CMDRs, so you can bring a buddy!

  • There will be NO Imperial rank requirements

  • The ship is designed to be a multi-role ship.

The Corsair releases on April 8th, 3311, for ARX purchases. We anticipate that like other new ships, it will eventually be available for purchase with in-game currency.

Today, we got our first look at Guatamaya's new ship, the Corsair! It's a medium multi-role ship, specifically designed with a strong hardpoint selection and an impressive cargo capacity. It has size 7 thrusters, meaning it may be the fastest medium ship to date!

The Corsair is explicitly designed to be balanced across primary roles--hauling, combat, and exploration--and stands out thanks to the beautiful design elements Guatamaya is known for. It has neon blue strip lights along the hull that distinguish it from other ships. It's designed to look like a predator. Copying from Lakon, Guatamaya also designed unique engine cowlings that will animate as the ship moves, as well as pop-up headlights mounted in the nose.

The Imperial Corsair will release in April.
